The Channel Islands are a collection of islands located in the English Channel between the coasts of France and England. The Channel Islands are located in three main groups—the Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney groups, with two smaller groups being Sark and Herm in the Sark group, and the Scilly Isles, which consist of four small islands—St. Mary’s, Tresco, Bryher, and St Agnes. In 2009, people lived on Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney. There are no public figures for Sark and Herm, because they are privately owned by non-British families. The islands have a population density of 350 people per square kilometre (900/sq mi). This compares with 3342 people per square kilometre (8690/sq mi) for England and Wales as a whole and 547 per square kilometre (1390/sq mi) for France.
