The Isle of Man, or Ellan Vannin in Manx Gaelic, is an island and jurisdiction near the coast of Great Britain with a population of around 83,000 people. The Isle of Man has been associated with Scotland since ancient times due to its proximity to the country and their shared Celtic culture and heritage. The majority of housing on the Isle of Man is privately owned. There are a few public rental properties, and social housing projects exist for senior citizens. Most residences are detached houses or bungalows with a garden and private driveway; there are some apartments in major towns like Douglas. Condominiums and townhouses tend to be more common in newer neighborhoods.
