The County of Newry, Mourne and Down (informally Newry and Mourne) is a county in the province of Ulster in the northeast of Ireland. It had a population of 194,891 according to the 2016 census. It contains the towns of Newry and Kilkeel and five boroughs: Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Castlereagh, Larne and Newtownabbey. The county was established in 1922 when it was created as an administrative division of Northern Ireland from part of the former county Down, with boundaries almost identical to those of the medieval Kingdom of Ulaidh.
