The county of Denbighshire lies in the north east of Wales and covers an area of 2,520 square kilometres. It’s bordered by the counties of Clwyd to the west, Conwy to the north, Flintshire to the east and Wrexham to the south-east. The county town is Ruthin and it’s also home to one of the largest ports in Wales – Rhyl Harbour. The county is largely made up of farming communities and market towns. There are 20 electoral wards within Denbighshire; these are divided into 70 community areas with their own elected councillors (as per as 2013) who represent a total population 22,741 people.
