Detailed Property Data for Somerset, UK

Somerset, UK

Somerset comprises most of the Somerset County Council administrative area and was created in 1996 by merging the previous Taunton and Sedgemoor districts. The council area borders Devon to the west, Dorset to the south, the Bristol urban area to the south east, and South Gloucestershire to the east. The city of Bath, which lies across the River Avon from Somerset, forms part of Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) unitary authority. The principal industry in Somerset is agriculture, which employs about 25% of its workforce. The county ranks 10th in England for agricultural output with more than one billion pounds produced annually. Historically, mining was also an important industry but declined during national industrialisation; there are now only remnants left.
