Detailed Property Data for Dorset, UK

Dorset, UK

Dorset has long been one of the most popular counties in England, boasting miles of beautiful coastline as well as enchanting countryside filled with rolling hills and spectacular views. It’s also known as the Queen of the Counties because of its rich history, which dates back to 860 AD when Dorset was first referred to in the historical record. It is largely rural and known for it's seaside towns including Weymouth, Dorchester and Lyme Regis. The prominant industries are agriculture or fisheries and tourism. In 2011, 5% of households in Dorset were overcrowded and 0.3% lived in accommodation considered to be under-occupied, with 3,500 households, owning their property, outright. In total, 9% of all households were rented from a local authority or other housing association or landlord. This means that almost seven out of ten households were owner-occupied (67%) or rented privately (21%). The remainder were living rent-free or in one of a variety of supported housing schemes provided by not-for-profit organisations.
