Anglesey (Welsh: Ynys Môn) is an island of North Wales in the Irish Sea, forming part of the region also known as Gwynedd. It lies off the north-west coast of Wales, separated from England by the Menai Strait and from Ireland by St George's Channel and the North Channel. With an area of 276 square miles (720 km2), Anglesey has about 33,500 inhabitants, making it the largest island in Wales. Anglesey constitutes a separate county with its own Lord Lieutenant. The main towns are Holyhead, Amlwch and Llangefni.
